The Nepali New Year 2078 was celebrated with equal enthusiasm and happiness on 14th April this year, albeit only amongst the close family members adhering to safety protocols. In the last week of the year, all of our staff and immediate family members were inoculated with the first dose of the jab. With the inoculation drive in full swing and mountaineering and treks gaining some momentum in Nepal, we are hoping for a better year ahead.

Happy World Heritage Day 2021 to everyone.

Let us all come together, set aside all our differences and spread the message of solidarity, and preserve our monuments and historic sites.

Nepal’s rhino population has shown very a promising 16% increment from the last 2015 census, indicated by the results of the National Rhino Count 2021, released by the Government of Nepal yesterday. We will also touch on the vaccination drive in Nepal and workers in the tourism sector finally being vaccinated in this week's update.

After years of hard work, we have finally been able to make our elephants chain-free and keep them in an electric fence-free shed.

One-Horned Rhino cooling down in front of old Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge, inside the Chitwan National Park. The pond was right across the Jungle Lodge and you could see Rhinos in the water from your Villas.

The vaccination and the nature of the vaccine has shown mixed reactions from the citizens. Nevertheless, entrepreneurs of the tourism industry are very hopeful for a positive outcome which is a sigh of relief. The government is also enthusiastically moving forward to create an environment to woo international travelers to Nepal. We sincerely hope that this will work out for the tourism industry to gain some momentum in the near future.

Green Jungle Resort and Venture Travels together and with the help of the Chitwan National Park authorities, we conducted a 1-day cleaning program last weekend. We were able to clean the area around the buffer zone and remove plastics and non-biodegradable items.

We have been having good success with domestic tourism in the past years and we are seeing a huge surge in travelers this year and it is an excellent sign for the industry. Even though foreign tourism brings in much needed foreign exchange into the country, neglecting domestic tourism will have far-reaching consequences to the industry, especially during crisis as we experienced during the earthquake and in the current scenario of the global pandemic.

We came across this one-horned rhino grazing on the field on a jeep safari inside Chitwan National Park. It was just 12-15 feet away from us. Surreal. On a fair note, it's not an unusual sight when you're at Temple Tiger Green Jungle Resort.

What do you get when you form a team of climbers each with world records to their name? You set some more astonishing records, and that’s exactly what happened on 16 of January, 17:00 hours at the summit of the K2 Mountain.

The all Nepali Team of mountaineers from three different expeditions successfully summited K2 in winter setting the world record for the first winter ascent of the K2. Additionally, few members also did the ascent without the use of supplement oxygen, setting another record to the world.
