Wishing you All a very Happy Janai Purnima, rakshya Bandhan and Kwati Punhi from Green Jungle Resort.

Janai Purnima, also known as Raksha Bandhan or Janaiournima, is a significant Hindu festival celebrated in Nepal with great enthusiasm and reverence. This auspicious day falls on the full moon day in the month of Shrawan (July/August) and holds deep spiritual and cultural significance. The main highlight of the festival is the ritual of changing the sacred thread (janai) worn by Hindu men. During this ceremony, priests perform rituals to purify and bless the new threads, which are then tied around the wrists of the male family members. This act symbolizes protection and the bond of love between brothers and sisters.

Janai Purnima is not only a day of religious observance but also a time for social gatherings and festivities. On this day, families come together to perform various traditional rituals and pay homage to their ancestors. It is believed that taking a holy bath in sacred rivers, especially at the confluence of Gosaikunda, a high-altitude lake in Nepal, can cleanse one of sins and bring good luck. Pilgrims from different parts of the country embark on a journey to this holy site to participate in the religious ceremonies.

Another essential aspect of Janai Purnima is the festival's association with Lord Shiva, who is revered by Hindus as one of the principal deities. Devotees offer prayers and worship Lord Shiva, seeking his blessings for a prosperous and virtuous life. The atmosphere is filled with devotion, joy, and the sound of traditional music and hymns during the celebrations. This festival not only strengthens the bond between siblings but also promotes unity and cultural harmony among different communities in Nepal. Janai Purnima is a reflection of the rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted spiritual beliefs of the Nepalese people, making it a cherished occasion for all.
