Best Green Resort of the Year 2000: Temple Tiger's Green Jungle Resort Continues Leading Conservation Efforts

The Temple Tiger Group of Companies has long been a pioneer in conservation and sustainable tourism in Nepal. Temple Tiger Green Jungle Resort in Chitwan National Park buffer zone in Amaltari, formerly known as Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge, takes immense pride in its conservation efforts within Chitwan National Park. Several years ago, all resorts inside the park, including the Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge, were ordered to close by the government. In response, the Green Jungle Resort was established, with a strong focus on green practices, which later earned them the prestigious title of "BEST GREEN RESORT OF THE YEAR 2000" from the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA).

Over the past decade, Green Jungle Resort has been actively involved in various programs at Chitwan National Park, ranging from conservation initiatives and cleaning campaigns to sustainable tourism and community empowerment. Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic disrupted their yearly plans, including the closure of the National Park. However, with the situation gradually returning to normal, they are starting anew this year with multiple initiatives.

Recently, Green Jungle Resort, in collaboration with Venture Travels and the Chitwan National Park authorities, organized a successful day-long cleaning program around the buffer zone. The team cleared the area of plastics and non-biodegradable items. The participation of guests from Venture Travels was heartening and added to the success of the cause. Additionally, the resort has been actively engaged in tree plantation, having planted over 300 trees around the property last year and another 50 different trees in the first week of January. These efforts are part of their ongoing commitment to conservation.

On a somber note, the resort also shared news about the tragic death of a male elephant, aged 20-22 years, due to electrocution near a wheat farm in the Saptari district of Nepal. The country's wild elephant population is estimated to be between 200 and 227, making each loss significant. Elephants are protected under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act of 1973, and the killing of an elephant can lead to substantial fines and imprisonment. The resort is closely following the investigation and collaborating with park authorities to address this issue. They emphasize the urgent need to remove illegal fences and closely monitor electric fencing to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future.

In conclusion, Temple Tiger Green Jungle Resort remains deeply committed to conservation efforts and is determined to make a positive impact on the environment and wildlife in Chitwan National Park.
